OCU smacks John Brown

Stars win final two regular-season matches

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University ended its volleyball regular season with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-22 victory over John Brown (Ark.) on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars finished its regular season with a 15-21 record, 5-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. OCU locked itself into the fourth seed in the SAC Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma Baptist.
The Stars face John Brown on Friday. Pairings and times are to be announced.
Meghan Irwin, a sophomore from Arlington, Texas, topped OCU with 13 kills, while Hannah Mitcham, a freshman from Fort Worth, Texas, posted 33 assists, 11 digs, six kills and three blocks.
Danielle Robison, a junior from Dallas, produced 19 digs, and Aspen Healy, a junior from Oklahoma City, contributed nine kills, three digs and two blocks for the Stars. Tori Leisure, a freshman from Haslet, Texas, tacked on eight kills and three blocks for OCU.
OCU wrapped up the second set by scoring the final five points of the frame. Irwin started the run with a solo block, then Flynn and Healy teamed on a block. Gabel and Flynn combined for another block before Healy hammered back-to-back kills.
The Stars overcame a 5-0 third-set deficit to put away the match. Leisure pounded two kills to help OCU turn a 17-17 tie into a 20-17 edge. Healy's kick provided OCU match point.
