OCU trounces Park 90-36

Gober picks up Stars with career-high 26 points

Lauren Gober has produced a new career-high point total the past two OCU games.

PARKVILLE, Mo. – Oklahoma City University thumped Park (Mo.) 90-36 on Saturday at the Breckon Sports Center.
Lauren Gober, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., spearheaded OCU with a career-high 26 points to go with seven rebounds, two blocked shots and four steals. The Stars, ranked 10th in NAIA Division I women's basketball, improved to 3-2.
Gober continued her hot shooting week, nailing six 3-pointers. She surpassed the career-high scoring total of 25 she had vs. Langston on Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena. Gober's previous career high had been 24 vs. Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on March 14 in the 2012 NAIA Tournament and at St. Gregory's on Jan. 22, 2011.
The Stars rode 58.8 percent shooting from the field (22-for-32) to a 54-21 halftime lead.
“We played really well together on both ends of the floor,” OCU coach Latricia Trammell said. “We executed, played with passion and had fun doing it. We need to carry this momentum into next week and continue to improve and work hard toward our team goals.”
OCU had five double-digit scorers. Katie Hall, a senior from Hazelton, Idaho, produced 14 points and six rebounds while knocking down all seven of her shots from the floor. Jessica Lankston, a senior from Kansas, Okla., recorded 12 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals while canning three treys. 
Desiree Jeffries, a senior from Oklahoma City, contributed 11 points, three rebounds and three blocks, and Ravven Brown, a senior from Duluth, Ga., had 10 points, a team-high eight rebounds to go with five assists and three steals for the defending national champion Stars.
OCU finished hitting 58.6 percent of their shots (33-of-56) from the floor. The Stars sank 10 3s, pocketed 18 steals and dished 22 assists. Park committed 29 turnovers while shooting 20.4 percent, connecting on 11 of its 54 attempts from floor. Park hit 3 of its 26 shots from the field in the second half.
The Stars led by as much as 55 points. Brown's free throws put OCU ahead 90-35 with 51 seconds left. Park went scoreless for 6:19 during the second half, during which time OCU scored 17 unanswered points. Lankston's free throws put the Stars up 75-23 with 8:57 remaining in the game.
Autumn Huffman's jumper provided OCU a 25-7 advantage with 13:36 to go in the first half.
OCU faces Northwood (Texas) at 1 p.m. Nov. 23 in the Oklahoma Baptist Holiday Classic at the Noble Complex.
