Northeastern rallies past Stars

Gober posts 12 points to lead OCU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Oklahoma City University suffered a 66-52 setback to Northeastern State on Saturday at Rankin Williams Fieldhouse in the Southwestern Oklahoma State Classic.
Lauren Gober, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., led OCU with 12 points off the bench. The Stars, ranked 10th in NAIA Division I women's basketball, went to 1-2, while NSU, ranked 23rd in NCAA Division II, improved to 1-1.
Autumn Huffman, a junior from Midwest City, Okla., added 10 points and six rebounds, while Kayla MacKenzie, a junior from Peoria, Ariz., chipped in nine points and two 3-pointers for the defending national champion Stars.
Gober's layup put OCU ahead 23-18 with 2:50 left in the first half. Northeastern answered, tying the game 23-23 on Tosha Tyler's trey. Tyler added a layup to put NSU up 25-23 at 18:51 remaining in the game.
Tyler's 3 ignited Northeastern on a 16-0 run. NSU shot 55 percent from the field in the second half.
Katie Hall's free throws cut OCU's deficit to 44-42 with 10:10 left in the game.
The Stars meet 14th-ranked Langston at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
