SNU takes four-set win from OCU

Santos picks up ninth double-double of year with 18 kills, 19 digs

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University fell 25-22, 20-25, 25-14, 25-20 to Southern Nazarene in the Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball opener for both teams Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Southern Nazarene improved to 12-2, 1-0 SAC, while the Stars dropped to 6-7, 0-1 SAC.
Danielle Robison recorded 44 assists and nine digs, while Raissa Santos notched 18 kills and 19 digs for OCU. Victoria Cross picked up 21 digs, while Meghan Irwin added 11 kills.
In the first set, Alex Benbrook nailed down a kill to put OCU ahead 18-15. Southern Nazarene responded, taking the lead 21-20 as Jamie Hope and Kaylee Piatt combined on a block. Ellen Martin's kill provided SNU the set-winning point.
In the second set, OCU led 18-13, but SNU rallied as Martin had a kill to cut OCU's edge to 20-19. The Stars tallied the next four points as Santos and Torrie Flynn hammered down kills. Anna Gentry racked up an ace to give OCU set point at 24-19.
The Stars face Benedictine (Kan.) at 2 p.m. Friday in the MidAmerica Nazarene Invitational at Olathe, Kan.
