OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City infielder Nathalie Timmermans and pitcher Lily LaVelle have been named Sooner Athletic Conference softball player and pitcher of the week, respectively, for March 21-27.
LaVelle, a junior from Bridge Creek, Okla., was recognized as SAC player of the week for Feb. 21-27, while Timmermans, a junior from Oldenzaal, Netherlands, garnered her first conference player of the week award.
Timmermans hit .545 and slugged 1.364 for the week, including three homers to drive in eight runs. She also scored five times to lead the Stars to a 3-1 week with a sweep of USAO and a split with fifth-ranked Lubbock Christian (Texas). She is hitting .422 with six homers, four doubles and 22 RBIs this year.
LaVelle was 3-1 on the week with a 0.67 earned run average in those four games. She pitched 21 innings and fanned 34 batters, including a 16-strikeout game at USAO. She scattered 10 hits and two earned runs for the week.
On the year, LaVelle has gone 11-4 with a 0.76 ERA, seven shutouts and 142 strikeouts in 91.2 innings. LaVelle has hit .371 with seven homers and 23 RBIs.
The Stars, ranked 10th in NAIA softball, meet Oklahoma Christian in a 5 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
