No. 22 OBU deals OCU setback

Santos racks up her 23rd double-double of year

Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dropped a 25-11, 27-25, 25-17 decision to Oklahoma Baptist on Friday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Oklahoma Baptist, ranked 22nd in NAIA volleyball, improved to 24-9, 10-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Stars went to 11-21, 4-6 in league play.
Raissa Santos, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, made it 23 double-doubles this year with 11 kills and 12 digs against Oklahoma Baptist. Victoria Cross, a senior from Oklahoma City, topped OCU with 14 digs.
Danielle Robison, a sophomore from Dallas, recorded 29 assists and 12 digs, and Anna Gentry, a sophomore from Stillwater, Okla., contributed 10 digs for the Stars. Alex Benbrook, a senior from Enid, Okla., chipped in eight kills and three blocks.
In the second set, OCU forged a 20-20 tie after Meghan Irwin and Taylor Rowton knocked down back-to-back kills. The Stars rallied from a 20-15 deficit. Santos nailed a kill that put OCU ahead 23-22, and the Stars got to set point at 24-22.
OBU answered with Skyler Strahm's kill, then Kristin Pressley and Tasha White added kills to give their team a 25-24 edge. Benbrook kept OCU going with a kill, but Strahm socked a kill. Kyleigh Mitchell put away the set with an ace.
Oklahoma Baptist rode a 5-0 run en route to a 17-11 advantage and the win.

The Stars take on Mid-America Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena in OCU's final home match of the season. OCU will hold senior night as well as Dig Pink Night, where fans will be invited to join the fight against breast cancer.
