THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University faces Lubbock Christian (Texas) in a Sooner Athletic Conference showdown.

ABOUT THE STARS: OCU prevailed 71-62 over Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars (8-1, 2-0 SAC) kept Wayland Baptist at bay in the final minute, stretching their lead to 12 with eight seconds left on Dee Proby's dunk.
Johnny Stephene, a 6-foot-1 junior from Boynton Beach, Fla., compiled 16 points, four rebounds and two steals. Stephene averages 13.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists a contest.
Nate Flowers, a 6-5 senior from Waldorf, Md., picked up 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals. He hit all four of his shots from the floor and 6 of 8 free throws. Flowers leads OCU with 14.3 points and 11.2 rebounds a game, ranking sixth in NAIA Division I in rebounding. Proby, a 6-10 senior from Round Rock, Texas, chipped in 15 points and four rebounds while knocking down two treys. Proby records 12.2 points and 3.4 rebounds a game.
OCU ranks No. 1 in the NAIA in total assists with 191. The Stars have the second best field-goal percentage in the nation at 53.5 percent. To see where OCU stacks up statistically in the NAIA, click here.
The Stars received votes in the preseason national rankings. OCU has been picked to finish fifth in the SAC according to league coaches. Six-time national champion OCU has captured the SAC regular-season crown 13 times.
OCU leads the all-time series against Lubbock Christian 31-8. OCU defeated Lubbock Christian 79-76 on Feb. 27 in Lubbock, Texas.
ABOUT THE CHAPARRALS: Lubbock Christian knocked off Mid-America Christian 68-57 on Thursday at the Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City. Lubbock Christian (7-1, 3-0 SAC) shot 54.9 percent from the field. Lubbock Christian secured only its second 3-0 conference start since 2003-04.
Kenny Hewitt, a 6-7 senior, spearheaded Lubbock Christian with 24 points, six rebounds and three steals. He shot 12-for-18 from the floor. Hewitt averages 16.5 points and 4.3 rebounds a game. Al Duvall, a 6-1 junior, recorded 13 points and three assists. Duvall averages 9.0 points a game.
Lubbock Christian had been predicted to finish sixth in the SAC in the preseason.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Kevin Morrissey has posted a 40-27 record in his third season at OCU. Morrissey spent the previous four seasons as St. Gregory's coach. He also has been an assistant at Missouri State and Texas-Pan American. Morrissey played his college ball at Oklahoma Baptist and Oral Roberts and high school at Bishop McGuinness in Oklahoma City.
John Copeland is in his 31st season as Lubbock Christian coach. Copeland has led the Chaparrals to three national-tournament appearances, guiding Lubbock Christian to the NAIA quarterfinals in 2001. Copeland has a head-coaching record of 459-414.
