OCU vs. Ozark Christian men's basketball preview

Shane Rogers recorded 4.5 points a game in OCU's two exhibition contests.

THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University plays its first regular-season contest of the season against Ozark Christian (Mo.).

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 students and free to OCU students, faculty and staff with their ID. It's Homecoming 2010, where activities are planned for all alumni. The weekend offers something for everyone, including a special recognition for the classes of 1960, 1985 and 2000. For information, see here.

Miss OCU Annalise Freeman is scheduled to sing the national anthem prior to the game.


ABOUT THE STARS: OCU dropped an exhibition to Central Oklahoma 93-82 on Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars had five double-figure scorers.
Brandon Moton, a 6-foot-3 junior from Beaumont, Texas, poured in 22 points for OCU. Moton sank six shots from the field, two from 3-point range. Moton posted 13.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.50 steals as a sophomore for Angelina (Texas).
Johnny Stephene, a 6-1 junior from Boynton Beach, Fla., added 19 points Thursday. Stephene posted 3.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists last season for Liberty. Dee Proby, a 6-10 senior from Round Rock, Texas, chipped in 17 points. Proby transferred from West Virginia and averaged 11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists for Angelina as a sophomore.
The Stars received votes in the preseason national rankings. OCU has been picked to finish fifth in the SAC according to league coaches. OCU has captured the SAC regular-season crown 13 times.
OCU has never faced Ozark Christian before.

ABOUT THE AMBASSADORS: Ozark Christian makes its season debut against Hillsdale Baptist at 6 p.m. Friday in Joplin, Mo.
Ryan Milliken, a 6-6 senior, averaged 1.08 blocks a game last season for Ozark Christian.

ABOUT THE COACHES: Kevin Morrissey has posted a 32-26 record through two seasons at OCU. Morrissey spent the previous four seasons as St. Gregory's coach. He also has been an assistant at Missouri State and Texas-Pan American. Morrissey played his college ball at Oklahoma Baptist and Oral Roberts and high school at Bishop McGuinness in Oklahoma City.
Chris Lahm serves as Ozark Christian coach. Ozark Christian went 16-19 last season.
