“They shot the ball well this week,” OCU coach Kevin Morrissey said. “Shooting the ball well was one of our goals. We have to shoot like that and keep sharing the ball. We played decent defense. We had several in double figures in minutes and scoring.”
The Stars outscored Baptist Bible 78-22 in the paint and 30-2 in transition.
“We shared the ball and got the ball in the paint, but I didn't think we played inspired basketball,” Morrissey said. “We didn't have a sense of urgency.”
Baptist Bible cut its deficit to 6-4, but OCU outscored Baptist Bible 31-6 following that basket. Shane Rogers and Stephene scored fastbreak buckets so spark a 12-0 Stars run.
Proby started the run with a lay-in to put OCU ahead 27-8 with 8:52 left in the first. Moton dropped in a 3, then Rogers converted a 3-point play off his transition basket. Stephene's fastbreak basket capped the run and gave OCU a 37-8 advantage with 3:40 remaining in the first period.
The Stars face Central Bible (Mo.) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
