THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University hits the road to take on Rogers State in a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup.
ABOUT THE STARS: The Stars used a strong performance in the second half to put away No. 18 Wayland Baptist 71-58 on Monday inside Abe Lemons Arena. OCU owned a 45-35 rebounding advantage for the game, and limited Wayland to just six points in the paint in the second half. OCU has now won four consecutive conference games to improve to 9-3, 4-1 in the SAC.
Donica Cosby, a 5-foot-8 junior from Coldwater, Miss., led the Stars with 32 points on 11-of-19 shooting. She also tallied two assists, two steals and hit all six of her free-throw attempts. Cosby is averaging 14.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists a game.
Holly Hardin, a senior from Chickasha, Okla., recorded a double-double with 10 points and a season-high 19 rebounds for OCU. Hardin records 12.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.00 blocks a game.
The Stars rank seventh in NAIA Division I in assists per game (18.0) and field-goal percentage (47.8 percent).
OCU, ranked seventh nationally, has been picked to finish second in the conference. The Stars entered this season tied for the most wins of any women's basketball program in the nation over the past nine years.
OCU is 5-0 all-time against Rogers State, including a 3-0 record last season. The Stars knocked Rogers State out of the SAC Tournament with a 72-54 victory on March 4 in Lubbock, Texas. Hardin had 10 rebounds.
ABOUT THE HILLCATS: Rogers State pounded Northwestern Oklahoma State 63-45 on Monday night in Claremore to improve to 11-2, 3-2 in the SAC.
Jenny Hardin had 18 points and six rebounds to pace the Hillcats. Jenny Hardin, a 6-2 senior, leads the team in scoring average with 16.3 points per game.
Rogers State is currently receiving one vote in the NAIA Division I women's poll. The Hillcats are expected to finish sixth in the SAC this season.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson has posted a stellar 127-25 record in his fifth season at OCU and a 429-144 record overall in his 20th season as a head coach. Edmisson has led the Stars to SAC regular-season championships twice and the SAC Tournament title three times. Edmisson coached the only player drafted into the WNBA from OCU, Mariam Sy. He won 192 games at Hutchinson (Kan.) and 110 as a high-school coach in Kansas.
Amy Williams is in her third season as the head coach at Rogers State. Williams has guided RSU to a 42-34 record. Edmisson and Williams were on the same coaching staff at Oklahoma State.
