WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State dealt Oklahoma City University a loss in volleyball 25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15 on Tuesday at Rankin Williams Field House.
The Stars dipped to 4-6. Alex Benbrook led OCU with 11 kills and four blocks.
Taylor Rowton chipped in 10 kills, while Jeannee Campbell added seven kills, 10 digs and two blocks for OCU. Samantha Ball totaled 21 assists, while Elizabeth Hendrix led the Stars with 20 digs.
Xiaoting Ma tallied 12 digs and four blocks, and Brittany Segars picked up 10 digs for OCU.
OCU won the second set, capitalizing on a 4-0 start to the set. Campbell and Ma combined on a block to put the Stars up 4-0. Ma registered the kill that secured the second-set victory.
The Stars had an 18-16 edge in the third set, but Southwestern responded. Southwestern scored five unanswered points, taking the lead for good.
OCU takes on Benedictine (Kan.) at 3 p.m. Friday in the Baker Invitational at Baldwin City, Kan. OCU also faces host Baker (Kan.) at 7 p.m. Friday.
