OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rang up season-opening victories 25-8, 25-15, 25-15 over College of Saint Mary (Neb.) and 25-18, 25-10, 25-23 over Huston-Tillotson (Texas) on Friday at Abe Lemons Arena in the Oklahoma City Classic.

The Stars (2-0) face Lyon (Ark.) at 11 a.m. and College of the Ozarks (Mo.) at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Against Saint Mary, Xiaoting Ma topped OCU with 13 kills. Ma, a junior from Dalian, China, added six digs and two blocks. Lindsay Hansen chipped in seven kills.

Shelbey Veselka led OCU with eight digs, and Brittany Segars added five digs. Alex Benbrook recorded four blocks in her Stars debut. Samantha Ball led OCU with 17 assists, while Adrienne Tillery served up four aces.

Against Huston-Tillotson, Hansen, a senior from Moore, Okla., paced the Stars with seven kills. Tillery, a junior from Carthage, Texas, added six kills, while Taylor Rowton and Ma each had five kills.

Veselka had nine digs, and Segars added eight digs.
