OCU women roll past Rogers State 85-72

Laura Duncan posted 20 points and six rebounds.

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University's women's basketball team defeated Rogers State 85-72 on Saturday at the Claremore Expo Center.

The Stars improved to 23-5, 15-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Stars are currently ranked 16th in the NAIA.

Breezy Martin, a junior from Oklahoma City, and Laura Duncan, a junior from Edmond, Okla., both led the Stars with 20 points. Martin went 10-for-12 from the free throw line and Duncan posted six rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Erika Ferrell, a junior from Arlington, Texas, followed with 12 points, rounding out the Stars' double-digit scorers. Chelsea Ledbetter and Chontaye Walter both added nine points to the effort. Ledbetter, a senior from Norman, Okla., handed out a team-high six assists in the matchup.

OCU went on an 11-1 run at the beginning of the first half and controlled the lead for the rest of the game.

The Stars' defense posted 37 rebounds and forced 15 turnovers. OCU shot 50.9 percent from the field.

OCU will face Northwestern Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena in senior night.
