THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University faces Sooner Athletic Conference foe Rogers State in road contest.
ABOUT THE STARS: OCU improved to 22-5, 14-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference defeating John Brown 61-51 on Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Holly Hardin, a 6-foot junior from Chickasha, Okla., led the Stars recording her 12th double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Hardin averages 13.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.04 steals and 1.48 blocks a game. Hardin ranks 11th in rebounding and sixth in double-doubles in the NAIA.
Laura Duncan, a 5-8 junior from Edmond, Okla., and Erika Ferrell, a 6-0 junior from Arlington, Texas, both contributed 12 points for the Stars. Duncan averages 12 points per game while Ferrell averages 9.6 points and 4.1 boards.
Chontaye Walter, a junior from Oklahoma City, is currently ranked fourth in the NAIA in 3-point field-goal percentage, shooting 47.2 percent from the arc. Chelsea Ledbetter ranks 10th nationally in assists, averaging 5.0 per game.
OCU leads the NAIA in assists, averaging 20.5 per game and in rebounding margin (14.0 a game). OCU is ranked second in rebounding (45.2 a game), fifth in defensive boards (28.3) and seventh in offensive rebounds (16.8).
The Stars are currently ranked 16th in the NAIA Division I. OCU, which has won eight of the last nine league titles, was picked to finish second in the conference.
OCU has gone 3-0 against Rogers State, defeating RSU 90-41 on Jan. 15 at Abe Lemons Arena.
ABOUT THE HILLCATS: Rogers State moved to 16-11, 10-9 in the Sooner Athletic Conference after being defeated by Mid-America Christian 69-68 in overtime on Thursday at the Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City.
Autumn Thompson led the Hillcats with 15 points, six rebounds and a team-high seven assists. Thompson, a 5-6 junior, averages 8.6 points and has posted 110 assists on the season.
Katie Rice followed with 10 points. Rice, a 5-10 sophomore, averages 11.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Azzie Knox grabbed a team-high nine rebounds with five points. Knox, a 5-11 senior, paces the Hillcats averaging 12.7 points and 10.5 boards per game.
Rogers State was picked to finish seventh in the conference.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson has a record of 109-21 in his fourth season guiding OCU, picking up his 400th career win on Dec. 11. Edmisson, the 2008 SAC coach of the year, led the Stars to SAC regular-season and tournament championships two of the past three seasons. Edmisson coached the only player drafted into the WNBA from OCU, Mariam Sy. He won 192 games at Hutchinson (Kan.) and 110 as a high school coach in Kansas.
Amy Williams is in her second season with the Rogers State women's basketball program. Williams was named the first head women's basketball coach at RSU and led the Hillcats to a 13-18 record finishing seventh in the SAC in their inaugural season.
