THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University takes on cross-town rival Central Oklahoma.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students. Admission is free for all OCU athletic events to OCU faculty, staff and students with their ID.
ABOUT THE STARS: OCU held on to an 82-73 season-opening win over Langston on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars led by as much as 23 points before Langston clawed its way back into the contest.
Donica Cosby, a 5-foot-8 junior from Coldwater, Miss., spearheaded OCU with 20 points, four rebounds and 10 assists. Cosby picked up the first Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week honor this season.
Chontaye Walter, a 5-8 senior from Oklahoma City, chipped in 18 points and three rebounds, hitting 3 of 6 from 3-point range.
Lauren Gober, a 6-1 freshman from Newcastle, Okla., added 11 points and four rebounds, knocking in 3 of 5 3-pointers.
The Stars have been ranked eighth in NAIA Division I in the preseason. OCU has been picked to finish second in the conference.
OCU leads the series vs. Central Oklahoma 15-2. Central Oklahoma defeated the Stars 73-69 on Nov. 6, 2007 in Edmond, Okla.
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS: Central Oklahoma will make its 2009-10 debut Tuesday. Central Oklahoma went 27-6, won the its second Lone Star Conference North Division title in a row and advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA Division II Tournament last season.
Ashley Beckley, a 5-11 junior, is UCO's top returner who averaged 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds a game while earning all-Lone Star North honors last season. Rose Anderson, a 5-10 senior, added 9.8 points, 3.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals a game in 2008-09.
Central Oklahoma has been picked to win the division crown this season and ranked 12th in NCAA Division II.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson has posted a stellar 118-22 record in four seasons at OCU and a 420-141 record overall in 19 years as a head coach. Edmisson has led the Stars to SAC regular-season championships twice and the SAC Tournament title three times. Edmisson coached the only player drafted into the WNBA from OCU, Mariam Sy. He won 192 games at Hutchinson (Kan.) and 110 as a high-school coach in Kansas.
Guy Hardaker has guided his alma mater to a 66-27 ledger in three seasons at Central Oklahoma. Hardaker went 173-148 with the 2005 Class 6A boys basketball state title at Edmond Santa Fe (Okla.) prior to UCO.
