THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University?s women play the second of a home-and-home series with Central Oklahoma. The first in the series was an exhibition, but Saturday?s game will be a regular-season contest.
ABOUT THE STARS: OCU moved to 5-0 with an 84-45 defeat of Oklahoma Wesleyan on Tuesday at Bartlesville, Okla.
Zanita Johnson, a 5-foot-7 junior from Tulsa, Okla., and
Alexandra Kotta, a 5-foot-11 senior from Germantown, Md., each had 17 points to lead the Stars.
Johnson added seven assists and five steals. Kotta leads the Stars with 21.2 points per game.
Mikelle Brown, a 5-9 junior, chipped in 15 points.
The Stars are ranked third in NAIA Division I. OCU and Lubbock Christian (Texas) were tied atop the SAC preseason poll.
OCU won the first meeting 66-42 on Nov. 8 at Abe Lemons Arena.
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS: Central Oklahoma won its first game under new coach
Guy Hardaker 81-56 over Panhandle State on Tuesday.
Jennifer Bullis, a 5-6 senior, had a career-high 18 points to lead the Bronchos.
Bullis leads Central Oklahoma with a 13 point-per-game average.
Lizzie Brenner, the 2006 Lone Star Conference North Division freshman of the year, is averaging 12.3 points and 8.3 rebounds a game this season.
Central Oklahoma is expected to finish seventh in the Lone Star North after being 7-20 in 2005-06.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson is in his second season as OCU head coach. Edmisson has a 337-122 record in 16 seasons as a head coach. He coached the Stars to a 32-3 record and the NAIA quarterfinals in 2005-06.
Guy Hardaker is in his first season at Central Oklahoma. Hardaker spent 1994-2006 as Edmond Santa Fe High School boys coach. Edmond Santa Fe went 173-148, winning the 2005 Class 6A state title under Hardaker.
