THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University?s women plays host to Southern Nazarene, the traditional NAIA powerhouse and Sooner Athletic Conference rival.
There will be a drawing for a $1,000 Meinders spirit scholarship that will go to an OCU student.
ABOUT THE STARS: OCU is 13-2 overall and 4-0 in the SAC with a 101-57 win over USAO on Thursday at Chickasha, Okla.
Mariam Sy, a 6-foot-4 senior from Mali, West Africa, led five double-figure scorers with 20 points to go with six rebounds and two steals.
Mikelle Brown came off the bench to score 14 points, two off her career high.
Paty Silva added 12 points.
Sy averages 23.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.60 steals a game. Sy leads the SAC in scoring and steals and ranks third in NAIA Division I in scoring, 21st in rebounds, 27th in steals per game and 18th in field-goal percentage (55.1). Silva adds 11.2 points and 2.33 steals per game. The Stars are ranked fifth in the NAIA and were selected to finish second in the conference preseason coaches poll.
ABOUT THE CRIMSON STORM: Southern Nazarene is 5-9, 1-3 in the conference after a 65-59 victory over Northwestern on Thursday.
Kinzie Glover, a 5-10 freshman, hit a 3-pointer to put SNU up 61-59 with 24 seconds remaining.
Jamie Morgan, a 6-foot senior, averages a team-high 12.4 points per game. The Storm were third in the preseason conference poll.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson has 323 victories in 16 seasons as a head coach. Edmisson, a graduate of Bethany (Kan.), came to OCU after a stint as an assistant at Oklahoma State. He won 200 games at Hutchinson (Kan.) and 110 as a high-school coach in Kansas.
Lori Carter has a 103-74 record in six seasons as a head coach, three at SNU and three at St. Gregory?s. Under Carter?s guidance, SNU won the 2004 NAIA championship and last season?s SAC Tournament crown. She was an OCU assistant from 1996-98.
