OCU, Spring Hill to face off in title game

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University outdueled Spring Hill (Ala.) 1-0 Tuesday to advance to the championship game of the NAIA Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars, ranked No. 16 in NAIA softball, shut out the seventh-ranked Badgers and got seven strikeouts from starting pitcher Danielle Fox to improve to 51-11 on the season. OCU will take on Spring Hill in the championship game at noon Wednesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Emily Krienke drove in the only run of the game with a single to right field that plated Cheyanne Terry in the top of the first inning.
Fox gave up six hits and struck out seven in seven scoreless innings and won the pitching duel with Spring Hill's Caroline Sagrera. Sagrera, who leads the NAIA in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched, allowed one run on four hits with 10 strikeouts. Fox has yet to allow a run in the tournament.
Krienke went 1-for-3 with an RBI to lead OCU at the plate.
Spring Hill reached the championship game after defeating MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) 6-0 in the nightcap of the Oklahoma City bracket.
The Stars and Badgers will square off in the championship game at noon Wednesday with an if-necessary game to follow at 3 p.m. at Ann Lacy Stadium.
