OKLAHOMA CITY – Former Oklahoma City University coach Jay Miller directed the United States to its fourth consecutive World Cup of Softball championship 5-1 over Japan on Monday at Hall of Fame Stadium.
Team USA picked up its second World Cup of Softball title in a row under Miller’s guidance. Miller, an NFCA Hall of Famer currently the Mississippi State coach, has also led the United States to titles in this year’s ISF World Championships and last year’s Canada Cup and Japan Cup.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Oklahoma City University’s coaching staff has been selected as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association NAIA national coaching staff of the year.
Head coach Phil McSpadden, assistant coach Bobbi Bridges, strength coach Guy Cook, pitching coach Harold Copas and graduate assistant Mindy Crabaugh guided the Stars to a 45-14 record and an NAIA national softball runner-up finish.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Amanda Howard of Oklahoma City University became a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association NAIA first-team all-American, while Ashley Wilburn was named to the second team.
Howard, Wilburn, Lily LaVelle and Autumn Mayberry of the NAIA softball runner-up Stars also were named NFCA all-NAIA Southwest Region.

DECATUR, Ala. – Simon Fraser (British Columbia) prevailed over Oklahoma City University 4-3 for the Clan’s fourth NAIA softball national championship on Wednesday at Wilson Morgan Complex.
OCU finished as national runner-up for the fourth time in program history in a matchup of the two schools with the most NAIA softball titles. OCU has captured eight national championships, the most in NAIA softball.

DECATUR, Ala. – Simon Fraser (British Columbia) dealt Oklahoma City University a 7-6 loss, putting the Stars into the losers bracket of the NAIA Championships on Tuesday at Wilson Morgan Softball Complex.
Ninth-ranked OCU (44-13) will play top-ranked defending champion California Baptist (64-3) at 11 a.m. Wednesday to get into the national championship game at 3 p.m. against 14th-ranked Simon Fraser (27-14). Earlier Tuesday, OCU stayed in the winner’s bracket with a 5-1 win over 13th-ranked William Carey (Miss.).

DECATUR, Ala. – Oklahoma City University upended top-ranked California Baptist 2-0 in an NAIA Championships quarterfinal Monday night at Wilson Morgan Softball Complex.
Kelby Roberson, a freshman from Washington, Okla., drove in the game’s only runs on a base hit to right field in the top of the seventh inning. The ninth-ranked Stars (43-12) play William Carey (Miss.) at noon Tuesday.

DECATUR, Ala. – Lily LaVelle hammered a grand slam over the left-field fence to rally Oklahoma City University past Madonna (Mich.) 6-4 on Saturday at Wilson Morgan Complex in the NAIA softball championships.
LaVelle, a sophomore from Bridge Creek, Okla., turned on an 0-2 pitch with two out in the top of the seventh inning. Ninth-ranked OCU (42-11) trailed 23rd-ranked Madonna 4-0 entering the seventh.

DECATUR, Ala. – Oklahoma City University knocked off Minot State (N.D.) 4-1 to begin pool play in the NAIA softball championships at Wilson Morgan Complex.
The ninth-ranked Stars (41-11) put together a three-run fourth inning. OCU meets Madonna (Mich.) at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Stars’ second contest of the three-game round of pool play. Games scheduled for Friday were postponed until Saturday due to rain.

DECATUR, Ala. – Oklahoma City University will begin pursuit of its ninth national championship with a pool-play contest with Minot State (N.D.) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 20 in the NAIA softball championships at Wilson Morgan Softball Complex.
OCU will also play Madonna (Mich.) at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 21 and Concordia (Calif.) at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Lily LaVelle of Oklahoma City University garnered pitcher of the year, while Autumn Mayberry of the Stars was named freshman of the year in all-Sooner Athletic Conference softball honors.
LaVelle and Mayberry headlined six all-conference selections for OCU. Amanda Howard and Ashley Wilburn also took first-team acclaim, Nathalie Timmermans picked up second-team honors and LeeAnn Lopez made honorable mention for the Stars. Jen Davis was named to the SAC gold glove team.
