Macy of Stars honored as regional freshman of year

Outside hitter from Edmond, Okla., led OCU in kills

Kristen Macy produced 3.05 kills, 2.88 digs, 0.39 aces, 0.35 blocks and 3.69 points a set in 2013.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Kristen Macy picked up Oklahoma City University's first NAIA Mid-South Region volleyball freshman of the year award.
A freshman outside hitter from Edmond, Okla., Macy also became the Stars' first Sooner Athletic Conference freshman of the year honoree.
Macy turned in 3.05 kills, 2.88 digs, 0.39 aces, 0.35 blocks and 3.69 points a set this year for OCU. Macy paced the Stars with 348 kills, which ranked sixth in the SAC. She accumulated 328 digs, 45 aces, 40 blocks and 420.5 points.
As a freshman, Macy recorded 10 double-doubles, nailed a season-high 20 kills against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Sept. 30 at Abe Lemons Arena and posted 26 digs at Austin (Texas) on Sept. 18. She served up a season-high four aces three times.
OCU went 19-14 and reached the SAC Tournament semifinals. The Stars ranked 19th in the NAIA with 1.94 aces per set.
