Stars finish eighth, Schiele fourth in NAIA Championships

OCU shot 318-300-312-313-1243 and finished eighth in the NAIA Championships

Jessica Schiele shot 77-68-75-76-296 to and finished fourth individually in the NAIA Championships.
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University carded 318-300-312-313-1243 and finished eighth overall Friday in the NAIA Championships at Link Hills Country Club.
Jessica Schiele, a junior from Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, England, posted 77-68-75-76-296 and finished fourth individually. Schiele birdied the first and fourth holes in the fourth and final round to finish four shots off the pace set by tournament-champion Megan Woodland of Victoria (Canada), three shots behind Oklahoma Christian's Anna Arrese Cortadellas and one shot behind Jamie Palermo of William Woods (Mo.).
OCU turned in a team score of 313 in the fourth and final round on the par-73, 6,044-yard course and finished 32 shots behind national-champion British Columbia (Canada), one shot behind seventh-place Lubbock Christian (Texas) and five shots behind sixth-place Oklahoma Christian.
“We obviously did not finish as well as we would have liked,” OCU coach Marty McCauley said. “It was a disappointing tournament for us. We were fighting from behind the whole event and just weren't able to get back into contention.”
Taylor Howard, of Ada, Okla., turned in a round-four 75 and shot 78-75-81-75-309 on the tournament. The junior holed three birdies on the final day and finished tied for 22nd.
Junior Mary Larsh, of Edmond, Okla., shot 80-78-78-82-318 to finish tied for 52nd and Madison Haley, a senior from El Reno, Okla., shot 85-79-78-80-322 to finish tied for 69th. Tanya Tibshraeny, a junior from Westhaven, Kirkwood, South Africa, added 83-79-83-82-327.
Haley closes her OCU career with three top-10 finishes including a second-place effort at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships in 2011.
