OKLAHOMA CITY – One day after being named the top squad in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer preseason coaches' poll, Oklahoma City University were selected No. 14 in the NAIA preseason top 25 poll.
The Stars were the only team from the SAC to crack the top 25. OCU finished the 2010 season ranked No. 12 in the nation after posting a 19-3-1 record overall and making an appearance in the NAIA Championships.
OCU also captured the SAC regular-season and tournament titles while winning an NAIA Championship Opening-Round match last year.
“If we can steer clear of injuries to key players, I think we'll be there or there about by the end of the season,” OCU coach Brian Harvey said. “The soccer gods have to smile on us to keep us clear of injuries.”
OCU opens 2011 facing Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) at 1 p.m. Aug. 26 in Siloam Springs, Ark.
