OKLAHOMA CITY – Mindy Crabaugh of Oklahoma City University has been named an ESPN the Magazine third-team college-division softball academic all-American.
Crabaugh, a senior from Edmond, Okla., became OCU's third two-time academic all-American. Soccer player Erika Garbrecht in 2007 and 2008 and tennis player Erika Callaway in 1996 and 1997 were OCU's other two-time honorees.
Crabaugh finished a degree in kinesiology with a 3.98 grade-point average. She was a first-team academic all-American selection last year. She was also a two-time NAIA scholar-athlete award winner for maintaining a 3.50 or better GPA.
This year, Crabaugh hit .420 with nine home runs, 58 RBIs and five stolen bases and was named the 2008-09 Jim Wade Award winner as the outstanding OCU female athlete. The Stars were 53-9, won the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament and placed fourth in the NAIA Championships.
Next season, Crabaugh will join the OCU women's basketball team as she pursues a master's degree in kinesiology.
