CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Oklahoma City pushed seven of its nine boats into the medal round at the Dad Vail Regatta on Friday.
 
Three OCU entrants won their semifinals.
 
Ilija Panic and Ethan Romburgh won the semifinals of the Men's Varsity 2 in 7:22; Ayden Ressler and Dominykas Motiejunas won the Men's Varsity 2X semifinals in 7:16.620; and Lucy Oney, Michelle Guzman, Alexis Fredrickson and Amelia Castor won the Women's Varsity 4X semis in 7:27.90.
 
Moving into the medal round from second place in their semifinal rounds were Oney in the women's varsity 1X in 9:09.70; Guzman and Fredrickson in the women's varsity 2 at 8:48.140; and Andres Parraga, Vojin Kovacevic, Steven Gwartney, Keaton Knopp and Nick Burks in the men's varsity four plus.
 
Pavle Glisic, Ressler, Josef Fruehwirth and Motiejunas reached the finals of the men's varsity 4X from third in the trials at 6:28.187.
 
Glisic will be in the secondary finals of the men's varsity 1X after a fourth-place finish in the semifinals in 8:14.940. Talon Denton won his final race in that event on Friday, finishing in 9:40.510.

"We had a great first day," said OCU Head Coach Bryan Volpenhein. "Lots of racing for some of the folks rowing in multiple events which is tough, but they set themselves up well for the finals. I'm excited to see them race tomorrrow. Lots of athletes have a chance at a medal, so just gotta take another step tomorrow!"
