Stars Complete Season Sweep at Langston

LANGSTON – Oklahoma City completed the season sweep of Langston on Tuesday, topping the Lions 11-1 and 8-0.
 
Hadley Gibson and Peyton Barrow each had five hits in the doubleheader. Barrow had two home runs and five RBIs.
 
OCU 11, LU 1
 
Tara Hoehner got things going in the first inning with a three-run home run.
 
The Lions got their only run of the day in the bottom of the first but Gibson doubled home Carlee Mollet to get that run back.
 
Mollet added a two-run double in the fourth and Barrow tacked on a two-run home run in the fifth.
 
Analise Rayburn had a two-run homer in the sixth and Gabby Moreno added an RBI double for the final margin.
 
OCU had 14 hits in the game, led by Gibson with three. Barrow, Moreno and Mollet had two apiece.
 
Brynlee Alsip went the distance for OCU, allowing three hits while striking out two batters.
 
OCU 8, LU 0
 
The Stars broke a scoreless tie in the third with three runs on an RBI ground out by Tara Hoehner, a sacrifice fly by Rayburn and a solo home run by Barrow.
 
OCU's final five runs came in the fourth on a two-run double by Gibson, an RBI single by Hoehner and a two-run single by Barrow.
 
OCU had 10 hits with Barrow getting three. Gibson, Iliana Ashford and Hoehner had two each.
 
Morgandee Sawatzky got the shutout, limiting Langston to a single while striking out two batters. She took the no-hitter into the fourth before giving up a one-out single.
 
The Stars finish the regular season with a four-game homestand against Southwestern Christian this weekend. The doubleheaders are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday.
