Stars Complete Series Sweep of MACU

OKLAHOMA CITY – Second-ranked Oklahoma City completed the series sweep of Mid-America Christian on Friday with a pair of complete-game shutouts, 4-0 and 7-0.
 
Brynlee Alsip (22-3) and Morgandee Sawatzky (7-0) each pitched seven scoreless innings to stretch the Stars' scoreless inning streak to 16 innings.
 
Carlee Mollett made big plays all day with a couple of diving catches and doubled off a runner in the opener.

Alsip got her second shutout of the series and fifth of the season, allowing four hits while striking out three.
 
OCU scored twice in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Analise Rayburn and an RBI single by Kaiden Spidell.
 
Gabby Moreno added an RBI double in the fourth and OCU scored its last run of the game in the fifth when Iliana Ashford scored from third on an errant throw on Tara Hoehner's stolen base.
 
The Stars had seven hits, including two each by Spidell and Moreno.

Sawatzky got her first shutout of the season, allowing four hits to go with two strikeouts.
 
Rayburn got things started with a successful squeeze bunt to bring home Hadley Gibson and Ashford also scored on an error on the play.
 
OCU added four in the second inning with an RBI double by Mollett, an RBI single by Gibson, an RBI fielder's choice by Hoehner and a sacrifice fly by Rayburn.
 
Spidell added an RBI single in the fifth for the final margin.
 
The Stars had nine hits, including two each by Gibson, Ashford and Mollet.
 
OCU hits the road for the next six games, beginning with a doubleheader at Langston at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
