Stars Complete Series Sweep of Pioneers

OKLAHOMA CITY – Third-ranked Oklahoma City completed the four-game sweep of Sooner Athletic Conference foe Wayland Baptist with a pair of wins, 9-1 and 9-2, on Monday.
 
Analise Rayburn had three home runs in the doubleheader.
 
OCU 9, Wayland Baptist 1 (5 innings)
Rayburn gave OCU a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second with a solo home run and Kaiden Spidell followed with a two-run home run for a 3-0 lead.
 
Rayburn added a sacrifice fly in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.
 
The Stars scored five in the fourth on an RBI single by Spidell, a two-run single by Hadley Gibson, a sacrifice fly by Iliana Ashford and an RBI double by Tara Hoehner.
 
OCU had seven hits in the game with Spidell and Gibson getting two each.
 
Brynlee Alsip went the distance with five strikeouts to move to 8-2 on the season.

Rayburn opened the scoring with a three-run home run in the first inning and Gibson added an RBI single in the second for a 4-0 lead.
 
In the fifth, OCU got a two-run home run from Rayburn and an RBI double by Spidell.
 
The Stars tacked on an RBI double by Gibson and an RBI single by Hoehner in the sixth for the final margin.
 
OCU had 16 hits with Rayburn and Hadley getting three each. Ashford, Kindalyn Miller and Spidell had two each.
 
Morgandee Sawatzky got the win in the circle, going 5.2 innings before Miller came in for her first save of the season, pitching a scoreless 1.1 innings.
 
Next up for the Stars is a trip to Goodwell for a four-game, weekend set at Oklahoma Panhandle State.
