Stars Extend Winning Streak to 20 Games

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City extended its winning streak to 20 games on Friday with a Sooner Athletic Conference sweep at Nelson, 10-0 and 17-3.
 
OCU scored 27 runs on 29 hits with Tara Hoehner getting six hits
 
OCU 10, NU 0
The Stars scored all 10 runs in the first three innings.
 
Kaiden Spidell had a two-run double in the first inning. Iliana Ashford and Hoehner had back-to-back home runs in the three-run second inning.
 
Peyton Barrow had an RBI double, Hadley Gibson added a two-run home run and Carlee Mollett had a two-run triple in the five-run third inning for OCU.
 
The Stars had 16 hits in the game, including four by Hoehner. Gibson, Ashford, Spidell, Gabby Moreno and Barrow had two each.
 
Brynlee Alsip shut out the Lions on one hit while striking out four.
 
OCU 17, NU 3
 
The Lions played close through three innings but the Stars blew open the 4-3 game with a 13-run fourth inning.
 
OCU led 1-0 in the first on an RBI single by Hoehner and Analise Rayburn added a two-run single in the third for a 4-0 lead.
 
Nelson scored all of its runs in the third inning to make it a one-run game.
 
Rayburn had a three-run double, Moreno had a two-run double, Ashford and Hoehner had RBI singles and Hadley and Hoehner had RBI walks in the inning.
 
OCU finished the game with 13 hits, led by Gibson, Ashford, Hoehner, Rayburn, Spidell and Carlee Mollett with two each.
 
Morgandee Sawatzky got the win in the circle and McKenna Snyder pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
 
The teams close out the series with a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
