Stars Complete Sweep at Nelson

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City completed its four-game sweep at Nelson on Saturday but not without a little drama in a 14-0, 6-5 day.
 
OCU 14, Nelson 0
OCU took a 7-0 lead through the first three innings and then piled on for a seven-spot in the top of the fifth to secure the run-rule win.
 
Analise Rayburn had an RBI double and Kaiden Spidell added an RBI single in the first inning.
 
Hadley Gibson doubled in two more in the second. Peyton Barrow added an RBI double and Iliana Ashford singled in two more in thethird.
 
The marathon seventh included a two-run double by Ashford, an RBI double by Rayburn, RBI singles by Carlee Mollett and Gibson and bases-loaded walks drawn by Jessica Phares and Barrow.
 
The Stars had 17 hits, led by Gibson and Mollett with three each. Ashford, Tara Hoehner, Rayburn and Barrow had two apiece.
 
Brynlee Alsip got the win in the circle and combined with two scoreless innings from McKenna Snyder for the shutout.

Nelson rallied for three runs in the sixth inning before the Stars got the eventual game-winner in the seventh on an RBI single by Barrow.
 
OCU scored on an error in the second inning and Nelson tied the game in the home half of the inning.
 
Hoehner and Spidell had RBI singles in the third for a 3-1 lead.
 
After NU cut the lead to 3-2, Rayburn hit a solo home run in the fifth for a 4-2 lead and Hoehner added an RBI double to make it 5-3 in the sixth.
 
The Lions tied the game in the bottom of the sixth.
 
Gabby Moreno led off the top of the seventh with a double and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Phares before scoring on Barrow's single.
 
Nelson got the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh but Morgandee Sawatzky kept the hosts of the scoreboard to get the win in relief.
 
OCU was listed with 13 hits on the scoresheet with four by Rayburn and two each by Gibson, Hoehner and Barrow.
 
The Stars are back in action Thursday and Friday, hosting Central Christian in a four-game series.
