Stars Finish Sweep of TWU

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City completed the four-game sweep over visiting Texas Wesleyan with a pair of run-rule victories on Saturday, 8-0 and 9-1.
 
The Stars improved to 23-3 overall and 12-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
 
OCU 8, TWU 0
 
OCU broke up a scoreless tie in the third inning with an RBI single by Tara Hoehner and a two-run single by Gabby Moreno.
 
Analise Rayburn, who was walked four times in the doubleheader, had a two-run double in the fourth, followed by an RBI single by Kaiden Spidell for a 6-0 lead.
 
Hadley Gibson added and RBI double and Iliana Ashford ended the game with an RBI single in the fifth.
 
OCU had 12 hits in the game, led by Gibson with three and Ashford and Hoehner with two each.
 
Brynlee Alsip (14-2) got the three-hit shutout for her third victory of the series.
 
OCU 9, TWU 1
 
The Stars scored five runs in the bottom of the second. Hoehner was issued a bases-loaded walk and TWU opted to pitch to Rayburn, who launched a grand slam to left for her 16th home run of the season.
 
OCU scored four more runs in the fourth on a double by Hoehner with an error to allow a run to score, an RBI double by Moreno and a two-run single by Jessica Phares.
 
Morgandee Sawatzky allowed an unearned run through four innings of work to get the win and McKenna Snyder pitched a scoreless fifth inning.
 
OCU is back in action Wednesday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Langston.
