OCU Moves to 4-1 in SAC

OKLAHOMA CITY – Stars baseball took Denney Crabaugh Field Friday with a 2-1 Sooner Athletic Conference record Friday before their series opening doubleheader against the 14-5 (3-0 in SAC) Wayland Baptist University Pioneers. Oklahoma City University swept Friday's doubleheader and doubled their conference win total for 2026. The Stars, coming off an impressive 20-10 run-rule victory over #12 Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Tuesday, Feb. 21, collected two more key victories on the season.

Game 1
Oklahoma City 14, Wayland Baptist 6

Top Performers
Eli Hill: 2-3, 3 R, 3 RBI, BB, HR
Aiden Alexander: 3-4, 3 R, RBI, BB, 2 SB, 2B (2)

In game one on Friday, OCU used early offense to their advantage with a game-tying run in the bottom of the first off the bat of Aiden Van Rensum that scored Aiden Alexander. Promptly in the second inning, the Stars scored runs aplenty and took a 6-1 lead into the third inning. Three straight RBI singles by OCU hitters popped the cork on the bottle of scoring for Oklahoma City. Eli Hill started the rally off when he drove Jack Johnson home for the first run of the second inning.

Wayland Baptist plated another run in their half of the third inning. However, OCU answered by scoring three more runs. Heath Brown notched his first home run of the 2026 season and collected two RBI in one swing, giving the Stars an 8-1 advantage over the Pioneers.

With a 9-2 lead in the fourth inning, things got slightly hairy when WBU amassed two runs in the top half of the inning. OCU once again thwarted the pressure applied and answered with runs of their own. The Stars connected on two-run home runs in back to back innings; this time, Hill smashed his first long ball of the season over the outfield wall to give OCU an 11-4 lead heading into the fifth.

Ultimately, Oklahoma City held on to win the ballgame 14-6 after scratching across some insurance runs. Starting pitcher, Cayden Maxwell earned his second victory of the year and posted a respectable line going 6.1 innings with seven strikeouts. Spencer Biggerstaff came in for relief of Maxwell and recorded the final two outs of the contest.

Game 2
Oklahoma City 6, Wayland Baptist 5

Top Performer
Cooper Holtorf: 3-3, 3 R, 2 RBI, HR, 2 SB

Similar to game one, both teams found offensive success in the opening inning. Neither team scored in the second inning and the Stars led the Pioneers 3-1 going into the third. WBU wound up scoring three runs in the third to take a one-run lead into the middle part of game two. OCU scored one run in their half of the inning to even the score at four runs apiece.

Fifth inning fireworks erupted for OCU when Cooper Holtoff blasted a go-ahead two-run home run out of Denney Crabaugh Field to give the Stars a 6-5 lead.

Bauer Brittain and Nick Anaya combined for a tremendous pitching outing by the OCU staff. Brittain went the first five innings while Anaya came out of the bullpen to slam the door shut on WBU; the relief pitcher from Escondido, Calif. collected his first save of the season while allowing only one hit during his outing.
