Keith Lytle's squad entered Saturday's game against Wayland Baptist University with a three-game win streak and a 4-1 record in Sooner Athletic Conference play. With yesterday's doubleheader sweep of the Pioneers, the Stars locked up the series win against WBU and have now won their first two conference series in 2026.

Wayland Baptist scored the first four runs of the contest and held a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning on Saturday. Scoring the Stars' first run of the game was
Brittain Brewer with an RBI double over the shortstop's head.Â
Later in the game, OCU was trailing 5-1 before Brewer connected on a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to lessen the WBU lead, 5-2.Â
However, over the course of the final three frames, the Pioneers amassed six runs and distanced themselves from Oklahoma City to salvage a win from their visit to Denney Crabaugh Field. Three separate Stars allowed three earned runs during Saturday's contest. Now 7-13 on the season, Oklahoma City will look to bounce back and start another multi-game win streak in their upcoming series.Â

OCU travels to Goodwell, Okla. to square off against Oklahoma Panhandle State in a three-game conference series beginning on March 6 with a doubleheader; start times are set for 12 and 3 p.m. CDT.
