Stars Split SAC Twin Bill

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City split a pair of one-run games with Central Christian to open the Sooner Athletic Conference season on Friday, falling 3-2 before getting a 9-8 win in extra innings.

Each team scored all of its runs in one inning each.
 
The Stars scored theirs in the top of the first on a two-run double by Wyatt Pace.
 
Central Christian scored three in the bottom of the second.
 
Pace had two of OCU's six hits in the game.
 
Cayden Maxwell went the distance for OCU, allowing three unearned runs on five hits while collecting three strikeouts.
 
Oklahoma City 9, Central Christian 8 (8 innings)
 
OCU won in extras after the teams accounted for 13 runs in the seventh inning.
 
Aiden Van Rensum singled home Trent Baker in the third to tie the game and the Stars took the lead on an error in the fourth.
 
That 2-1 lead held until the Stars went ahead 8-1 with six runs in the top of the seventh. Eli Hill drew an RBI walk, Jack Johnson added a two-run single ahead of a two-run double by Brittain Brewer. Aiden Alexander tacked on an RBI single.
 
The Tigers didn't go quietly, scoring seven in the home half of the seventh to send the game to extra innings.
 
Will Ellis brought home the eventual game-winning run with a bunt single for the 9-8 lead.
 
CCC got a possible tying run into scoring position with one out but Nick Anaya retired the next two batters to get the pitching win.
 
Van Rensum and Johnson had two hits apiece to lead OCU's eight-hit attack.
 
The teams close out the series Saturday at 12:05 p.m.
