OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's track and field teams head to Kansas this weekend for Pittsburg State's Gorilla Invitational.
 
OCU is sending eight men and five women to compete in 10 events on Friday and Saturday.

Men's Entrants: The Stars have Brendan Robeaux (DMR, Mile, 800), Alexander Daly (DMR, 800), Demarion Dean (DMR, 800), Hendrick Ramirez (DMR, 5K, 3K), Riley Randall (5K), Jack Reed (5K), Ayenew Devany (Mile) and Jackson Fowler (3K) entered in the meet.
 
Women's Entrants: Entered for the OCU women are Vanessa Perez (200, 400), Kenzi Readnour (5K), Keira Readnour (5K), Erika Pena (Mile, 800) and Isabella Gutierrez (800).
 
Previously: Oklahoma City athletes won several events with two NAIA national A standards at the Texas Wesleyan Indoor Qualifier on Friday. Erika Pena won the 1000M in 2:54.50 and Florencia Cabrera was second at 2:55.30. Both are NAIA automatic qualifying times. Demarion Dean won both the 400 (50.74) and the 800 (1:55.72). Ayenew Devany won in his season debut in the 3000 meters at 15:17.49. Halen Biggs won the 3000-meter race walk in 20:30.60. The women's 4x800 relay team of Kenzi Readnour, Florencia Cabrera, Isabella Gutierrez and Erika Pena won in 9:21. Vanessa Perez took the 600 meters in 1:36.81 and Tabytha Roy won in the 60 hurdles, clocking 10.09.
 
Awards: Demarion Dean for the second time this season earned Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors. Dean took part in the Texas Wesleyan Indoor Qualifier and grabbed a pair of first-place finishes in the event. Dean earned the top spot on the podium in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.72 and then claimed the 400-meter dash in a mark of 50.74. Dean also won the award on Jan. 20 OCU women have won the award twice. Florencia Cabrera won it on Jan. 20 and Erika Pena received the honor on Feb. 3.
 
Qualifiers: Demarion Dean has an automatic qualifying time in the 600 and Alexander Daly has a B standard time in that event. Brendan Robeaux, Daly, Dean and Hendrick Ramirez have a B standard time in the men's DMR. Erika Pena and Florencia Cabrera have A standard times in the 1000 meters. Cabrera, Vanessa Perez, Isabella Gutierrez and Pena have an automatic qualifying time in the women's DMR. Kenzi Readnour, Perez, Gutierrez and Pena have met the A standard in the 4x800 relay. Pena has a provisional mark in the mile and Kenzi Readnour has a B standard in the 5000 meters.
