This Week in OCU Track and Field

OKLAHOMA CITY – Fourteen Oklahoma City Stars head to the University of Arkansas to compete in a dozen events in Friday's Arkansas Invitational.
 
The action begins at 12:45 when Tabytha Roy is scheduled to run in a qualifying heat of the women's 60 meters.
 
OCU Notebook:
OCU Female Entrants: Tabytha Roy (60H, 200), Erika Pena (Mile), Isabella Gutierrez (Mile), Isabelle Spiller (Mile), Florencia Cabrera (400, 1000), Vanessa Perez (200, 400), Keira Readnour (3000) and Kenzi Readnour (3000) represent the women in six events.
 
Representing the OCU Men: Alexander Daly (200, 600), Demarion Dean (200, 600), Cooper Phillips (800, Mile), Hendrick Ramirez (800, Mile, 3000), Brendan Robeaux (3000) and Isaiah Smith (High Jump) are in six men's events.
 
Qualifiers and Rankings: Demario Dean met a provisional (B) standard in the 600 meters last month and has the fourth-fastest NAIA time. Hendrick Ramirez is ranked eighth in the mile. Isaiah Smith is 37th in the High Jump: Erika Pena is ranked ninth and Isabelle Spiller 39th in the 3000 meters. Vanessa Perez is 16th in the 400 meters and Isabella Gutierrez is 18th in the mile.
 
Previously: Oklahoma City opened the indoor track season with some strong performances at the Crimson and Gold Invitational in December. The OCU women got a pair of top 10 finishes with Erika Pena in fourth at 10:13.52 in the 3000 meters and Vanessa Perez in eighth in the 400 at 57.65. On the men's side, Demarion Dean was third in the 600 meters at 1:11.14 and Hendrick Ramirez placed fifth in the mile at 4:19.81.
 
Next: The Stars are back at Pittsburg State a week from Saturday for the NAIA/JuCo Challenge.
