Stars, Evangels Play to 2-2 Draw

OKLAHOMA CITY – The NAIA Game of the Week played to a 2-2 between Oklahoma City and Mid-America Christian, despite a brace by OCU's Harrison Knight.

Dubbed first (MACU) and second (OCU) in the Sooner Athletic Conference preseason poll, MACU won the league title last season and the Stars took the postseason championship. Saturday night's battle was the Sooner Athletic Conference for both teams.

Knight scored his first goal on a frantic attack by OCU in the sixth minute. A shot by Thomas Brulay went off the post. Bernardo Duarte booted the ricochet off the glove of MACU keeper Dante Caffaro and Knight found the opening for the 1-0 lead.

Haruya Higuchi tied it for MACU in the 55th minute but the Stars retook the lead with a goal by Knight in the 83rd minute.

MACU got the final equalizer from Federico Palacios in the 87th minute.

The Stars outshot their guest 17-7 with Ethan Taylor, Bernardo Duarte and Ruben Fahiya all posting shots on goal.

Alexis Bertrand had a pair of saves.

The Stars return to action Monday, hosting Oklahoma Panhandle State at 3:30 p.m.
