Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Ray Fink

Stars Top OPSU, 3-2

OKLAHOMA CITY – Nathan Fergeson scored two goals and Thomas Brulay buried a corner kick to give Oklahoma City a 3-2 Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Monday.

"We knew coming in, it was going to be difficult on one day's rest after a mental and physical battle on Saturday night, so players had to step up," said OCU Head Coach Billy Martin. "We got a little magic from Nate Fergeson – he's a defender – with two goals, and then Thomas was hitting those corners, and we knew eventually he was going to get one. It wasn't the prettiest game, but we got the job done"

Trailing 1-0 after a goal by Simon Echeverry in the 11th minute, Fergeson executed a bicycle kick off a feed from Ryan Moon in the 43rd minute.

Fergeson headed home a nicely placed assist from Sage Trevino in the 57th minute for a 2-1 OCU lead.

The Aggies knotted the game at 2-2 with a goal from Ayoup Bader in the 63rd minute.

On OCU's 11th corner kick of the day, Brulay bent his corner into the opposite upper corner for the game-winner in the 77th minute.

The Stars outshot the Aggies 22-11 and had nine shots on goal. Fergeson and Bernardo Duarte had two shots on goal while Brulay, Francisco Miquel, Harrison Knight, Ruben Fahiya and Juan Erazo tested the OPSU keeper once each.

Alexis Bertrand had a save while picking up the win in goal.

OCU gets back to action on Saturday, visiting Southwestern Christian at 3:30 p.m.
