GOODWELL – Oklahoma City dropped a four-set Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball match at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Friday, 20-25, 28-26, 25-19, 25-19.
For the third time in as many SAC contests, OCU won the opening set but couldn't come up with a victory in a close set after that.
The Stars got out to a 7-1 lead as
Maddie Edwards got two kills and shared two blocks with
Natalie Adams.
Marina Kalajdzic later ended the set with a kill.
OCU got the second set to set point but OPSU scored four of the next five points to get the win.
Grace Smallwood put on a show with 22 kills and a .278 attack percentage while Kalajdzic added 10 kills. Adams had 46 assists to go with three aces.
Defensively, Edwards assisted on five blocks while Kalajdzic and Adams were in on four each. Five players had double-digit digs, led by
Katelyn Stephenson with 18.
Ryan Leland had 14 and Smallwood had 12 to get a double-double. Adams and
Kaylie Marshall had 10 digs apiece.
The Stars stay on the road for a 1 p.m. contest at Wayland Baptist in Plainview, Texas, on Saturday.
