How It Happened
Sterling entered the match shorthanded and began the game playing only 10 players due to injuries earlier in the week. Abundant scoring propelled the Stars to a dominant victory on their home field Thursday night. Seven different players scored a goal for OCU against the Lady Warriors.
Amelia Horsford scored three straight goals in the first half to uncork the proverbial bottle of goal scoring. Prior to Horsford's string of goals,
Tatum Tallal netted her first career goal of 2025 and her Okla. City career. Assisting on the game's opening goal was
Kayleigh Haygood, who after tonight's efforts, now leads OCU in assists. Senior Tallal returned the favor by assisting on two of the three goals scored by Horsford during the first half.Â
Four minutes into the second half, the Stars grew their lead to 5-0 when Haygood received a feed from Horsford that resulted in a score. Within a 10-minute window in the early stages of the second half, OCU connected on two unassisted strikes, one from a redirection in the box.
Yami Ponce notched her fourth goal of the season while
Abby Russell recorded goal number one for the year. Three minutes later, the Stars added a third straight unassisted goal on a Haygood strike.Â
In the 68th minute, Tallal scored her second goal of the game, the season, and her OCU career. Okla. City received a gift from Sterling when an own goal trickled in after a poor clearance effort in front of the net.
Inka Silz and
Ali Daugherty added late goals to ice the match definitively. Â
Shooting Stars
Okla. City recorded its most shots tallied (39) since 2022, when the Stars played Randall and recorded 46 shots. Tonight's game marked the first time OCU took 30+ shots in a match this season; they had accomplished this feat three times last season.Â

From the Coach
Head Coach
Billy Martin states, "We asked the girls to do some things at halftime, and they did. We left this game not being upset because we downed our level due to Sterling being at a disadvantage."Â

- More than 64% of Okla. City shots have landed on target.Â
