Stars Stymey Jaguars Offense, Secure 3-0 Clean Sheet Win in Victoria

VICTORIA, Texas – Oklahoma City University Women's soccer arrived in Victoria to play the Texas A&M University-Victoria Jaguars on Saturday. The Stars and Jaguars have played each other nine times, with the Stars winning the last five contests. Okla. City needed a strong surge in the second half to pull away from A&M-Victoria. OCU recorded its second clean sheet of the 2025 season with a 3-0 win on Saturday.

Oklahoma City 3, A&M Victoria 0

'67- Kayleigh Haygood (1); Assisted by Alyssa Schuerch (1)
'84- Amelia Horsford (2); Assisted by Saizlee Carlton (2)
'88- Amelia Horsford (3); Assisted by Saizlee Carlton (3)

How It Happened
Zero goals were scored in the first half as both teams attempted to get a feel for one another. OCU did not allow A&M-Victoria to record a single shot, a shot on goal or a corner kick during the first half. The first 66 minutes of the second half mirrored much of what also occurred in the first half: a lack of offense. However, the Stars generated at least 10 shots in both halves. With 23 total shots and six of those landing on goal, Oklahoma City scored on half of the six goals that landed on goal. The first of which was in the 67th minute, on Kayleigh Haygood's first career goal as a Star, assisted by Alyssa Schuerch. Haygood, a transfer from Rose State College, has provided Coach Billy Martin's team with a spark and depth. 17 minutes later, OCU netted another goal when Saizlee Carlton found Amelia Horsford for her first goal of the game and second of the season. Then, 4 minutes and 11 seconds later, the duo connected again on a goal. Before Saturday's match, the last Star to record multiple assists in a game was Carlton.

Game Notes
  • Okla. City has recorded 20+ shots in two of three games for 2025.
  • The Stars are outscoring the opposition 10-1 on the season.
  • Yami Ponce tallied nine shots on Saturday against the Jags.
