COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Oklahoma City University Stars are one win away from their 12
th NAIA Softball World Series Championship and they'll get two chances to get it.
OCU downed Eastern Oregon in the winners' bracket final, 3-1, on Tuesday, propelling it to the finals on Wednesday when the losers' bracket survivor will have to beat OCU twice. That championship begins Wednesday at 3 p.m. (2 Central).
The Stars handed EOU starter Kylie Parsons her first loss in 24 pitching decisions.
OCU broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth when
Analise Rayburn singled, moved to second on a ground out, stole third and scored on an RBI single by
Rally Radacy.
The Mountaineers tied the game with a solo home run by Emily Barry in the bottom of the fourth, representing the first run
Emersen Heron (27-5) has allowed in her three World Series appearances.
The Stars took the lead for good when
Iliana Ashford delivered a two-run single to right for the final margin.
OCU had five hits in the game, including two by
Tiffany Paul.
Eastern Oregon got the leadoff batter aboard in the bottom of the seventh but Heron induced three fly outs to squash the rebellion.
Heron, who finished the game with five strikeouts, is 3-0 with a 0.34 earned run average in the World Series.

Due to rain in Columbus, the Southern Oregon-Gwinnett game was suspended in the bottom of the seventh with SOU ahead 3-0. That game will resume at 11 a.m. (10 Central and the winner plays Eastern Oregon 45 minutes after the conlcusion of that suspended game.
