Drovers Dust Stars on Senior Day

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Women's Basketball team had 24 turnovers on Saturday allowing the Drovers to pull away behind excellent shooting from the floor in a 77-55 defeat.

STAT OF THE GAME: Oklahoma City tallied its third-highest free throws made in a game going 18-of-26 from the foul line. Jerzie Bryant led the Stars by going 7-for-8 while five different OCU players were 2-for-2 from the stripe. 

FIRST QUARTER: Amaya Gordon and Reagan Travis opened the scoring for Oklahoma City to make it 4-0 before USAO exploded with a 17-3 run as Evangelia Davlakou scored nine points as the Drovers held a 19-10 lead after one quarter of play. 

SECOND QUARTER: The two sides split for 13 points apiece in the second period as the Stars came back from down 16 to close out the quarter on a 7-0 run as Lauren Rowan finished with the final four points for OCU. 

THIRD QUARTER: Science & Arts pulled away from Oklahoma City out of the locker room with an 18-2 run as the Stars could only score one basket in a five minute span allowing USAO to take a 26 point lead. 

FOURTH QUARTER: Getting the deficit down to 19 twice behind a pair of twos by Brooke Curry and Victoria Ososonya, the Stars found themselves trailing by 21 when another big run for USAO helped the Drovers grab their largest lead of the day at 77-48 before the Stars would finish the game with the final seven points as Taryn Cottrell drilled the final shot of the game from three-point land. 

GAME NOTES
  • Oklahoma City now moves to 10-16 overall and 10-12 in conference play as the Stars close out the home slate with a 6-7 record inside Abe Lemons Arena. 
  • Brooke Curry led the team in scoring with her third straight double-digit scoring game to finish with 10 points on 2-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Curry has drained at least two threes 15 times this season and has done so in four consecutive games. 
  • Jerzie Bryant came away with nine points as she notched a season-high in free throws made by going 7-for-8 from the stripe. 
  • Amaya Gordon racked up eight points to snap her four-game double-digit scoring streak while still being able to snatch three takeaways and tie a season-high three blocks. 
  • The Stars honored five seniors on Saturday in Amaya Gordon, Cacie Gorman, Ray Osborn, Amanda Sene Da Cruz and Raegan Travis
  • Oklahoma City falls to USAO for the eighth time in a row as the Stars hold a 30-9 record over the Drovers since 2006.
NEXT TIME OUT: Oklahoma City will travel to Fort Worth, Texas on Monday and face the Texas Wesleyan Rams at 6:00 PM.
