FREMONT, Neb. - Oklahoma City University's women's wrestling team delivered an outstanding performance at the Midland Open this weekend's tournament, with multiple athletes earning podium finishes. Leading the charge was Alexis Miller, who secured the championship title at 103 lbs.

Ranked No. 3 in the nation, Miller dominated her bracket, winning every match by fall. In the finals, she pinned No. 6 Devyn Moore (Grand View) in just 28 seconds to claim the title.

No. 16 Corin Lowe also had a stellar tournament, opening with a victory by fall before securing three consecutive technical falls to reach the championship match. In the finals, she faced No. 8 Aspen Barber (Doane), narrowly missing the title in a close 8-7 decision to finish as the runner-up.

No. 18 Makayla Munoz showed remarkable resilience after an early loss. She battled through the consolation bracket, earning six consecutive wins—four by technical fall and two by fall. Along the way, she avenged a previous loss to No. 8 Sofia Delgado (Grand View) from last weekend. Munoz sealed her third-place finish with a 5-4 decision over Bridgette Sotomayor (Doane).

No. 17 Bryce White made a strong run at 131 lbs, notching three victories, including two by fall. Unfortunately, an injury in the third-place match forced White to settle for a fourth-place finish.

At 124 lbs, Wachipi Hamelryck impressed with multiple wins by fall and technical fall, fighting through the consolation rounds to secure sixth place.

Natalia Posada finished fifth at 138 lbs, earning a mix of decision wins and technical falls. She capped her tournament with a crucial pin over Laura Kipnusu (Grand View) at the 5:46 mark.

Other Notable Performances

Several other OCU wrestlers put forth strong efforts but fell short of the podium. Destiny Campbell (131 lbs), Morgan Mackey (138 lbs), and Alexis Fredrickson (145 lbs) each picked up victories before being eliminated.

The Stars will look to build on this performance as they prepare for their final event at Baker University next weekend before heading into the conference tournament.
