OKLAHOMA CITY – Nelson edged Oklahoma City in a battle of Sooner Athletic Conference leaders on Saturday, 86-80.
 
Despite the final margin, NU led for the last 39 minutes of the game and saw its lead peak at 20 points with 18 minutes to go.
 
The Stars closed out the game on a 13-3 run.
 
Beau Tranter came off the bench for 24 points and four steals. Jackson Hopps added 21 points and Brian Alexander came up with 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
 
The Stars return to the court on Jan. 8, hosting Langston at 8 p.m.
