POTEAU – Oklahoma City crowned two champions and all five entrants placed in the top three at the Carl Albert Viking Women's Open on Sunday.
 
Symphony Veloz won at 180 and Ella Murphey at 207 for the Stars. Makayla Munoz was second in 160. Rayleigh Fisher and Coty Sessions placed third in 138 and 124, respectively.
 
After a technical fall victory in the quarterfinals, Velez won by fall in the semifinals and finals. She defeated two unattached entrants, including Riley Samarripa in the championship bout.
 
Murphey dominated with three falls in 1:24, 1:17 and 0:20. Her quick win in the finals came against Holidae Banfield of Carl Albert.
 
Munoz was 3-1 on the day, including a technical fall against Cameron Massie of Oklahoma State. She lost in the finals to Oklahoma State's Kaiulani Garcia.
 
Sessions was 3-1 and scored a technical fall in the third-place match against Madison Roe of Carl Albert, 11-0. Fisher 2-3 on the day, beating unattached Kayleigh Braden in her final match by fall at 1:59.
 
"It was good to get the rest of our starters on the mats before we had our next competition," said OCU Head Coach Will McKinney. "Missouri Valley is a big one coming up, and it was nice to get everybody some mat time and get prepared before we go."
 
The Stars return to the mats Nov. 21-22 at the Missouri Valley Open.
