Stars Lead After Two Rounds in Blanchard

BLANCHARD – Oklahoma City had two eagles and a double eagle in a strong first day at the Battle of Winter Creek, finishing the day in first place on Monday.
 
The Stars are nine under par and have a five-stroke lead over tournament host USAO.
 
Carter Ray had the hole of the day, taming the par-five 521-yard eighth hole in just two strokes. OCU also had a pair of eagles in the second round on the par-five 518-yard fifth hole. Philipp Perzl and Jack Newton solved that hole in three strokes.
 
Perzl leads the Stars in second place at four under par after rounds of 71 and 69. He birdied holes 17 and 18 in both rounds. In the first round he also went one under on holes two, eight, nine and 13. As a group the nine Stars on the course produced 10 birdies on the par-five, 534-yasrd 17th hole.
 
Lorenzo Santinelli is fourth after two rounds, shooting 67 and 74. He birdied holes, two, three, six, seven, eight, 17 and 18 in the first round and hole four in the second round.
 
Christian Yanovitch was two under on the day after a pair of 71s.  Yanovitch converted birdies on holes four, eight and 17 in both rounds. He also had birdies on hole two in the first round and holes five, seven, 10 and 18 in the second. He is in fifth place.
 
Carter Ray and individual entrant Jack Newton are tied for 11th. Ray had rounds of 71 and 73 and Newton went 73-71. Both are even par. In addition to his double-eagle, Ray birdied hole five, 14 and 17 in the first round. Along with his eagle, Newton added birdies on 12 and 17 in both rounds, along with first round birdies on one in the first round and two and 18 in the second.
 
Simon Jansson finished out the team scoring group in 24th at seven over par with rounds of 74 and 77. He had birdies on holes two, 13 and 14 in the first round and eight, 10 and 18 in the second.
 
JJ Grimm is 24th as an individual entrant at six over par, shooting 73 and 77. He birdied the third, seventh, 12th and 13th holes in the first round and the fifth hole in the second.
 
Individuals Cameron Bozyk and Luke Woods are tied in 32nd place at 10 over. Bozyk's two rounds of 77 included first-round birdies on the first, second, eighth and 16th holes. Woods shot 78 and 76 with birdies on the 17th ole in both rounds. He also birdied holes four and 18 in the first round and the eighth hole in the second.
 
The Stars complete the tournament with the third round on Tuesday.
