Crom's hat trick leads Stars over Swedes

OKLAHOMA CITYHallie Crom and Abby Russell lead the way on offense as the Stars ran away with a 7-0 victory while scoring two early goals within the first two minutes of play. OCU women's soccer notched their third win of the season and logged a clean sheet Tuesday evening against the Swedes of Bethany (KS).

How it Happened 

The Stars' offense wasted no time as they netted two goals within the first two minutes of play. Senior Hallie Crom scored the first goal which came from an Abby Russell assist before junior Saizlee Carlton netted her own unassisted goal 16 seconds later. At the 12-minute mark of the first half, Crom scored her second goal of the contest. Yessenia Ochoa-Lopez and Abby Russell notched a hockey assist, giving Russell her second assist of the match. Crom secured her third goal for a hat-trick 16 minutes into the second half after junior Aynslee Duffy found her teammate for a scoring opportunity. To top things off, Inka Silz who hails from Germany, notched the final two goals of the game for the OCU offense within five minutes of each other. The junior found the back of the net in the 79th minute for an unassisted strike. Silz found the back of the net again in the 83rd minute for her second goal of the season and the game as Kyrie Soto assisted on the late scoring chance.  

Notes on the Game  

  • Oklahoma City amassed 36 shots with 23 of those landing on goal. The Stars' defense did not allow a single shot by the Swedes. 

  • Senior Hallie Crom secured her first career hat-trick. 

  • Junior Abby Russell notched two assists in a game for the third time in her career.  

  • The Stars' seven goals were the most scored in a game since their 11-0 victory against Randall University on 8/30/2022.   

  • Junior Inka Silz recorded her first two goals in her OCU career.  

Up Next  

The Oklahoma City women's soccer team will hit the road to take on the Sterling College (KS) Warriors. The match is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 7th.
