Duarte lifts Stars over Bulldogs with one goal and one assist

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City men's soccer team dealt its second straight shutout as Bernardo Duarte led the way with a goal and an assist to leads OCU to a 2-0 win over Jarvis Christian.

How it Happened 
Oklahoma City moved to 2-0 on the season after scoring a goal in each half of the match while earning its second consecutive shutout after holding Jarvis Christian to just two shots with coming on-goal. The Stars fit in a goal towards the end of the first half in the 43rd minute as Thomas Brulay scored for the first time this year on an assist by Bernardo Duarte

Duarte stayed right in the middle of the action by getting a goal of his own in the 83rd minute that put the contest away as Hannan Ashraf dished out the assist to set up the score. 

Notes

  • Oklahoma City took seven shots with six coming on-goal to tab its highest shot on-goal percentage since Sept. 14, 2019. 
  • Thomas Brulay scored the first goal of his OCU career after missing last season. Brualy tallied three assists in the season-opener on Thursday against Bethany and now gets in the scoring category to tie Ruben Fahiya for the team lead in points (5).
  • Bernardo Duarte led Oklahoma City with an assist on Brulay's goal in the first half before scoring one of his own late in the match. Duarte netted his first of the season and the ninth of his career.
  • The Stars remain unbeaten against Jarvis Christian in two meetings against one another with Saturday's match being the first since 2021.
