OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University President Dr. Kenneth Evans announced the hiring of Bill Raynor to assume to the role of Interim Athletic Director beginning on Monday, July 22.
Raynor previously served as the Athletic Director at MassBay Community College, in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts, from 2004-17. A Boston native, he then spent a year at MassBay as special assistant to the president and chief Diversity officer, and most recently has served as a community engagement specialist in the college's Admissions office.
He previously served as director of Recreation, Sports and Fitness for the city of Boston and as director of Upward Bound in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Raynor brings a deep background of coaching with almost four decades of experience as a basketball coach at the collegiate level beginning his career at Harvard University in 1978 as an assistant.
Following Harvard, Raynor has held three different head coaching positions at Holy Cross, MassBay and Framingham State University. Raynor named the NJCAA Coach of the Year four times over his career (2009, 2011, 2013, 2017).
He was inducted in 1997 into the Catholic Memorial High School Hall of Fame; in 2007 into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame; and in 2009 into the Hall of Fame at Brown University, where he served as assistant basketball coach from 1980-88.
Raynor earned a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and a master of education degree in counseling from Antioch College. He will begin his term at Oklahoma City University starting on Monday, July 22.
Raynor will be replacing Corey Bray who previously served as the OCU Director of Athletics from Spring of 2022 to the summer of 2024.
