OKLAHOMA CITY -- The senior duo of Cacie Gorman and Amaya Gordon each finished with a double-double, but the Stars fell victim to a scorching shooting night to Southwestern Assemblies of God, 87-50, on Thursday (Feb. 8) evening inside the Abe Lemons Arena.
Gordon secured her ninth double-double of the season by reaching double-figure scoring for the eighth game in a row with 12 points and 13 rebounds while Gorman earned her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
SAGU (14-8, 11-6 SAC) opened the game on a 9-2 scoring run, while reaching up to a lead as much as nine in the first quarter. Newcomer Hannah Grundy cashed in on two three-pointers to help enclose on the deficit.
The Lions were able to break the game open after holding Oklahoma City (6-17, 5-12 SAC) to just 10 points in the second quarter and eight points in the third as the Lions became scorching hot from deep setting a new season-high with 18 three-pointers on 40 attempts.
Rylee Lavender led the way for the Lions with a season-high 27 points on a season-best seven threes while the top rebounder in the conference Agar Farres Garcia picked up her 12th double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
Senior Ray Osborn led the Stars in scoring with a season-high 20 points while shooting 8-of-12 from the charity stripe and picking up four steals.
Oklahoma City stays inside its home doors as the Stars will welcome UNT-Dallas to Abe Lemons Arena on Saturday (Feb. 10 for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
